FAQs
I want to book but there is no availability!
If you would like to book an appointment outside the currently available days please let us know. Visit the Contact page and let us know when you would like to book (the day and time that best suits you). You will be added to the waitlist and contacted when that time becomes available.
Do you offer group therapy?
We are currently looking to establish regular group therapy sessions. If you are interested in group therapy please let us know. Once there is enough interest we can begin the screener process and begin intake.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Although therapy is often covered by extended benefits or insurance programs it can still be a financial commitment. We offer a sliding scale to clients based on income and economic needs. Do not hesitate to inquire about the sliding scale and we can work to find an amount that fits your current situation.
Is therapy confidential?
Anything discussed in a therapy session is completely confidential. Counsellors are bound by an ethical code to maintain confidentiality. However, there are limits to confidentiality. These will be discussed at the beginning of therapy before any work can begin and are stated on our consent form.
How many sessions will I need and how often?
This depends entirely on the needs of the client. Counsellor and client work together to determine what seems like a good fit. This also depends on what the client would like to work on. Some clients book sessions as needed. Others find weekly sessions beneficial. We would not recommend more than once a week.
What is the difference between different counsellors, psychologists and psychiatrists?
All three mental health professionals can perform psychotherapy. Counsellors, often referred to as therapists, specialize in providing psychotherapy to clients. Psychologists usually have a doctorate degree, are more specialised, and work in clinical settings. They can administer tests and diagnose clients. Psychiatrists can do all of the above. Psychiatrists have gone through medical school and therefore can also prescribe medicine. Visits to a psychiatrist are covered under MSP. Psychologists and counsellors are usually covered under extended benefits. Contact your insurance provider to learn more about what is and what is not covered.
